An observation period of 1-2 hours may be required after which discharge formalities can be executed.
What are side effects of this procedure ?
Side effects may depend upon the site of injection. Usually the side effects include mild burning in urine, mild blood tinge of urine, lower abdominal pain etc. Some patients may have retention of urine for which temporary urinary catheterization may be required. Other systemic side effects are very rare.
What are disadvantages of Botulinum Injection ?
The toxin paralyses the muscles and nerves only for a short duration of 6-9 months. Once the effect weans off additional dosage may be required to bring back relief.The other disadvantage is that this therapy is on the expensive side, and even though it is less invasive and expensive than other surgical options, the need of recurrent treatments may make it less patient friendly
